Principal Control Engineer

Dynisma is revolutionising the automotive and motorsport driving simulator market with its world-class Motion Generator technology. Our systems deliver more information about vehicle dynamics and ride to drivers and passengers with less latency and more accurately than any other motion simulators available. Our CEO Ash Warne started the business in 2017 after leading the simulator programmes at McLaren and Ferrari F1 teams. We have since grown to a team of 65 engineers and we have designed, built and delivered Ferrari F1 Team’s new driving simulator.


The Role

We are seeking a talented and driven Principal Motion Control Software Engineer to join our Simulation & Control group. This role involves leading the development of motion control software, enhancing controller performance, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to push the boundaries of our technology.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Development: Spearhead the development of motion control software within the Simulation & Control group.
  • Simulation Enhancement: Develop and utilize offline simulations to optimise controller performance.
  • Model Accuracy: Use test data to refine model accuracy for both offline simulations and real-time control software.
  • Innovative Methodologies: Identify, develop, and test novel control methodologies to advance our control understanding.
  • Collaborative Testing: Work with other engineers to implement and test controller developments on our demonstrator systems.
  • Software Commissioning: Oversee the commissioning of simulator software for Factory and Site Acceptance Testing as part of the Simulation & Control group.
  • Design Consultation: Advise mechanical engineers during system design, emphasising the impact on control software.


Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Expertise in control engineering, with a particular interest in optimal control.
  • Familiarity with control types such as LGQ, LQR, H infinity, and MPC.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to utilise test data for model refinement and controller performance enhancement.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and advise on system design.
  • Proficiency in tools like Matlab, Python, C, Julia, and Simulink.
  • Knowledge of Arduino, STM32, or other embedded systems is a plus, though not essential.
